The History of Mazumah

A steadfast entrepreneur since his early teens, Damon Westmoreland founded Mazumah in 2002, an innovative on-line payroll system that caters to companies who manage payroll for 500+ independent contractors. The system allows companies to distribute and manage payroll via a Web-based platform.

"We provide custom-designed Web sites with the back-end programming for issuing payroll already in place,"says CEO Damon Westmoreland. "With our application, companies significantly cut costs by eliminating timely check printing and delivery costs, plus providing their employees or contractors with greater flexibility in managing their funds."

The Mazumah system enables endusers to request their earnings in several ways including requesting a check, transferring monies to their bank account or loading funds to a linked debit Master-Card, also provided by Mazumah.

Linda Murphy, whom Westmoreland refers to as his "right-hand man," comes from a marketing and advertising background and says that after five years of working together they have achieved an ideal balance.

"Damon oversees the technical side and has never-ending ideas, whereas I'm more of the marketing, detailed-oriented
side of the partnership," says Murphy.

Mazumah services accounts from around the world and is just one of Westmoreland's successes.

With their expertise in on-line payments, Westmoreland and Murphy turned to the on-line payment arena, partnering in a company called GreenZap Inc. In just four months and with 300,000 registered users, GreenZap is quickly gaining market share in the on-line buyer/seller arena, which is currently tightly held by eBay's payment processor, PayPal.

"We have made it a point to include 'fun' in our company mission statements. I think if you take work too seriously, it
stifles the creativity and productivity of your team," says Westmoreland. "So that's what we plan on continuing to do:
Work hard, have fun and leave a positive mark in our lifetime.
